Leland College was a college for blacks, but open to all races. It was established in 1870,[2] first in New Orleans and then moved to near Baker, Louisiana, in 1923 after its original buildings burned. The school closed in 1960.[3]

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.[1]
