Leke Alder (born Samuel Oluwaleke Alder; fl. from before 1985) is the founder and principal of Alder Consulting, Nigeria’s leading creative intelligence firm with offices in Lagos and London. He is credited with introducing branding as a discipline to Nigeria and has consulted on policy, politics and business at the highest levels locally and internationally. He has consulted on policy formulation for the federal government of Nigeria, the federal ministries of Information & Communication, Education, Foreign Affairs and Solid Minerals Development. He has also consulted on political strategy and communication campaigns at national and sub-national levels.[1][2][3]

Early life and education

Leke Alder, an only child, was born in Lagos. His family comes from Lagos and Abeokuta in Ogun State. He attended Igbobi College and Kings College before proceeding to Obafemi Awolowo University. He graduated as a lawyer in 1985 and was called to the bar in 1986.[4][5]

Career

Leke Alder began his professional career in 1987 at Wole Olufon & CO, a legal firm specializing in Commercial Law, Property Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Litigation and Intellectual Property.[6] In 1996, Leke founded Alder Consulting, a strategy and branding firm focused on business and nation development.[7] He is credited with introducing branding as a discipline to Nigeria, and has consulted on policy, politics and business at the highest levels at home and abroad.
Leke Alder wrote the blueprint of Nigeria's image management programme – the Heart of Africa project and was the Chief Consultant to the Federal Government on the project. [8][9]

Writings and addresses

Leke Alder served as a panelist at the Annual Africa Business Conferences of Harvard Business School, Wharton Business School, and Kellogg School of Management.[10]
He was a speaker at the Financial ADFocus Conference, South Africa as well as Leadership Forum, Ghana. He was a guest lecturer at the School of Media & Communications (SMC), Pan African University (now Pan Atlantic University) and guest speaker at the university's EDS, the Nigerian Bar Association and Women in Management & Business (WimBiz). He is the author of several books and was the host of a weekly radio business program, Minding Your Business with Leke Alder on 92.3 Inspiration FM, Lagos.

Positions

Leke Alder is the chairman of the board of directors of Alder Consulting and of A Figment of Imagination.[11][12]
He was appointed by the Nigerian federal government to the Board of Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), and was the chairman of the board Tenders Committee as well as Chairman of the Communications Committee. He served on the Board for four years.
Leke Alder has also served as a member of the organizing committee of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), the Board of Trustees of Day Waterman College, and the Steering Committee, World Economic Forum on Africa (the chairman, Sub-Committee on Media, Host Broadcasting & Advertising).

Personal life

Leke Alder is married to Morenike Popoola, and has two children: Toluwani and Olamide.[13]
