William A. Jacobson is an American lawyer, professor, and conservative blogger. He has "a national reputation as a leading practitioner in securities arbitration."[1] His cases have been covered by The Wall Street Journal,[2]The Boston Globe,[3] The Providence Journal,[4] TheStreet.com,[5] RegisteredRep.com,[6] and Investment News.[7]
Education
Jacobson is a 1981 graduate of Hamilton College and a 1984 graduate of Harvard Law School.[8] During his time at Harvard, Jacobson served as Senior Editor of the Harvard International Law Journal and as Director of Litigation for the Harvard Prison Legal Assistance Project.[9][10]
Career
Jacobson is a Clinical Professor of Law and the Director of the Securities Law Clinic at Cornell Law School. Prior to joining the faculty, Jacobson was a litigator in Providence, Rhode Island.
Jacobson is also a conservative pundit. He has provided commentary on legal and political issues in The Wall Street Journal,[11] The Washington Post,[12] Fox News,[13] CBS Evening News,[14] The Washington Times,[15] The Providence Journal[16] and Newsday, among others.[17] He is also a contributor to Politicos "Arena".[18]
Jacobson is author of the conservative law blog, Legal Insurrection.[19][20] As of January 2011, Legal Insurrection was ranked number 24 in politics and number 67 overall by Technorati[21] and number 7 for top legal blogs by Avvo.[22] His writing on Legal Insurrection has been referenced by The Atlantic Wire,[23] The National Review,[24] The Hill,[25] New York Magazine's "Daily Intel",[26] The Christian Science Monitor,[27] The Boston Herald,[28] Rush Limbaugh,[29] The New York Times,[30] Gothamist,[31] CBS News,[32] The Wall Street Journal,[33] Investor's Business Daily,[34] The Washington Times,[35] AOL News,[36] The Week,[37] and others.
On January 13, 2017, his YouTube channel was taken down due to copyright violations.[38] However, Jacobson believes he was targeted for his conservative political views.[38] The channel was restored on January 15, 2017.[39]
