Left Alliance (Scotland)
The Left Alliance was a small political group in Fife, Scotland.
"We're known as the hammer and sickle of Fife politics."
William Clarke[1]
The Left Alliance had two out of 78 seats on Fife Council. They were Willie Clarke, who represents Ballingry and Lochore, and Alexander Maxwell, who represented Cowdenbeath. Clarke is a member of the Communist Party of Scotland and Maxwell was a member of Democratic Left Scotland.[1]
Both seats are part of the former Fife coalfield and were in the past held by predessor organisation, the Communist Party of Great Britain.
As of 2016 Willie Clarke still represents Ballingry[2] sponsored by the Communist Party of Scotland,[3] although is officially Independent. Maxwell lost his seat in the 2012 local elections.
