Le Labo (French: "the laboratory")[1] is a luxury perfume brand based in New York City.[2] It was founded in 2006 by Eddie Roschi and Fabrice Penot.[3][4] Esteé Lauder bought Le Labo in 2014.[5][6][7][8]

Products

Le Labo produces 14 fragrances and 8 ambient room scents. The formulations do not include animal products, paraben, preservatives or coloration, and are not tested on animals. Fragrances are compounded at the time of purchase with the client's name stamped on the label. The label states "natural spray", but this does not mean that the ingredients of their fragrances are natural. Le Labo also retails items such as tote bags, detergents, and note books online.

Perfumers who have created fragrances for the brand include Michel Almairac (Ambrette 9), Annick Ménardo (Patchouli 24)[9] and Maurice Roucel (Jasmine 17 and Labdanum 18).[10][11]

Locations

The first store opened on Elizabeth Street in New York's Nolita neighborhood. The brand has standalone boutiques and corners in department stores in countries including the US, UK, Germany, France, Belgium, Hong Kong, UAE, Japan and South Korea,[12] and will open in Australia in 2017.[13]

In Beyoncé's 2016 visual album Lemonade, the singer was depicted burning two Le Labo Santal 26 candles during the sequence for "Sandcastles".[14]
