Laster is an atmospheric black metal band from Utrecht, The Netherlands. However, the band describes their music as obscure dance music, expressing dualities and a rebellious affirmation of human existence in their musical and lyrical themes.[1]

Formed in 2012 by N. and W., Laster immediately drew attention on the internet by writing and recording their first demo, Wijsgeer & Narreman, within one day.[2] It was released through Dunkelheit Produktionen. Initially, N. and W. wanted to escape the musical boundaries they had drawn in their former bands- Northward and White Oak. After the succes of this demo, N. and W. asked S. (former Northward) to join Laster. Together they started playing shows throughout the northwest of Europe whilst writing and recording De verste verte is hier, their first full-length album.[3] The album was released through Dunkelheit Produktionen on vinyl and cd, but also on limited tape through New York based Broken Limbs Recordings. De verste verte is hier was followed up by a 12" split-release with Wederganger, this time brought to light through Ván Records.

Meanwhile, Laster is showing a palette of skills and desires with which they diverge more and more from black metal labels, which have been put on Laster since the very first days of their existence. Bandmembers have announced that Laster is now finishing an upcoming full-length.[4]
