Kawa has been very active in spreading his message of fiscal conservativsm to the African American community.[4] He gained national attention by filing a lawsuit challenging the Obama administration's ability to delay the employer mandate to provide health insurance as part of the Affordable Care Act.[3]

Early Life & Education

Kawa is the son of Abraham and Joan Kawa. Abraham was a local orthodontist in Canarsie, a working- and middle-class residential and commercial neighborhood in the southeastern portion of the borough of Brooklyn, New York City. Larry Kawa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Brooklyn College, graduating in 1987. He received his dental degrees at New York University School of Dentistry in 1991 (DDS) and in 1993 (Specialty Certificate Orthodontics and Dento-facial Orthopedics). Prior to graduating and moving to Boca Raton, Florida to start his own practice, he learned about orthodontics by working at his father's practice.

Orthodontics career

Immediately after graduating from NYU in 1993, Dr. Kawa moved to Florida to start his own practice, which he still owns and operates.[2] His office is one of the largest single office orthodontics practices in the United States with almost 70 employees.[4] He has also been a continuing education provider for the Florida Board of Dentistry since 1994 and is a member of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, South Palm Beach County Dental Association (where he has served on the board of trustees), Broward County Dental Association and Southern Association of Orthodontists.

Political activism

Kawa has been active politically recruiting African Americans to the Republican Party.[6] In his "State of the Nation" event to promote fiscal conservatism to the African American community, Kawa brought in former national Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, former Florida Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll, and Niger Innis, national spokesman for the Congress of Racial Equality[4] Prior to that he has hosted fundraisers with 2012 GOP Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former U.S. Congressman Allen West, former Majority Leader of the Florida House of Representatives Adam Hasner and several other prominent politicians.[7][7] He also has his own political action committee called the American Courage PAC.[4]

Lawsuit on Employer Mandate

On the morning of October 1, 2013 Judicial Watch filed suit on behalf of Kawa Orthodontics in the Southern District of Florida against the United States Treasury, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, the Internal Revenue Service, and acting IRS Director Daniel Werfel.[8] The lawsuit alleged that the delay of the employer mandate "exceeded [the administration's] statutory authority, is arbitrary, capricious, and contrary to law, and is otherwise unlawful.".[8] Kawa sought to enforce the employer mandate according to the law's stated enforcement date which was January 1, 2014.[8] The lawsuit (No. 9:13-cv-80990) was dismissed by U.S. Federal District Court,[9] the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

Political Domains

Kawa has also established himself as a significant holder of political domains the United States. He was one of the primary buyers of the .democrat and .republican domain extensions.[10] Kawa was even able to acquire and still owns www.hillaryforpresident.comwhich he redirects to his own personal site on Hillary Clinton.[11]

Hillary Clinton Email & Benghazi Scandals

Under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Larry Kawa secured the release of Hillary Cinton's SF-312 as well other previously unreleased State Department documents from Hillary Clinton, Cheryl Mills, and Huma Abedin.[12] Through documents released to Kawa through the FOIA process, he has asserted that Hillary Clinton never properly obtained a security clearance.[13]

Kawa has also enlisted the services of Judicial Watch who filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Department of State seeking all records of communications between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Obama White House from the day of the terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi and throughout the following week. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Dr. Larry Kawa of Boca Raton, Florida, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, West Palm Beach Division (Larry Kawa v.
