Eliakim Johnson, professionally known as Lakey The Kid or Lake is a rapper from Queensbridge, New York. In 1999, Lake was released from prison after serving a seven-year sentence for, according to him, "shooting a guy in the stomach" who is said to have reported him to the police. He had been writing rhymes while in prison and attempted to get into the hip-hop industry once he was released. Lake is famously known as a friend and business partner of fellow Queensbridge rapper Nas. He appeared on the song "Revolutionary Warfare" on Nas' album, God's Son and a song titled "One Never Knows". Since he appeared on Nas' album, Lake's relationship has folded with Nas.
The first album Lake released was Lake Entertainment Presents: The 41st Side, a compilation album featuring fellow Queensbridge rappers. The album was released under Lake's label, Lake Entertainment and sold over 100,000 copies with little promotion. Many compare the album to Nas' compilation album, QB Finest, which also featured Queensbridge rappers. Albeit minor, Lakey the kid was mentioned subtly in Nas's song "Represent" from his critically acclaimed debut album Illmatic, in which he says "My man Cormega, Lakey the Kid, can't forget Drawers...".
Lake is now signed on to Death Row East, a subsidiary of Death Row Records. On August 22, 2006, Lake released a collaborative album with Cormega entitled My Brother's Keeper.
