Lafond Bay

Location of Trinity Peninsula.

Lafond Bay (63°27′S 58°10′W / 63.450°S 58.167°W / -63.450; -58.167Coordinates: 63°27′S 58°10′W / 63.450°S 58.167°W / -63.450; -58.167) is a bay, 3 nautical miles (6 km) wide, lying south of Cockerell Peninsula, Trinity Peninsula, Antarctica. Its head is fed by Sestrimo Glacier.

The bay was surveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (1960–61), and was named by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee after Lieutenant Pierre Lafond, a French naval officer on the Astrolabe during her Antarctic voyage (1837–40).[1]
