Krysta Harden was United States Deputy Secretary of Agriculture from 2013 until 2016. She perviously served two years as the Secretary of Agriculture's Chief of Staff (2011-2013). Prior to that, Harden served as Assistant Secretary for Congressional Relations at USDA (2009-2011).[1]
Harden was born and raised in Camilla, Georgia and has worked exclusively in the field of agriculture since graduating from the University of Georgia. When asked why she chose to work for the federal government, Harden responded, “Because I want to serve my country, and this was how I chose to do so.”
Harden was appointed Deputy Secretary by President Barack Obama in 2013. She resigned as Deputy Secretary in February 2016 and later assumed the position of Vice President of Public Policy and Chief Sustainability Officer for DuPont.[2][3]
