Krasnoyarsk Metro
Krasnoyarsk Metro System is a future subway system in the city of Krasnoyarsk, Russia. Construction began at a slow pace in the late 1990s. Initially the plans were to open it in 2005, but this got postponed to 2014. In 2010 federal funding was slashed and it is uncertain when the metro will be finished.[1] At the beginning of 2015, the governor of Krasnoyarsk Krai V. A. Tolokonsky ordered to suspend the construction, because of the high costs until 2020 and focus on the construction of surface facilities.[2][3]
System
Construction began on the system in 1995. However, after three years of work and 500 meters of tunneling, a lack of funds slowed construction considerably. By 2004, new tunneling equipment had been purchased, but another funding cut stopped progress again.
By 2005, the Federal Government stepped in to help the project along. 144 million rubles were allocated by Moscow which would help advance the tunnels another 250 meters. 2006 brought another 230 million rubles to finish the remaining 400 meters between the first two stations and start 100 meters towards the third station.
The total plan calls for a total of three lines and 30 stations.
