Kotputli is a city and a municipality in Jaipur district in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is made up of the main town named Kot and the nearby Putli village, which is now considered a part of the main city. Kotputli is a very old and historical place. It was a part of the Matsya ( now Alwar ) kingdom having capital at nearby village bairat during the period of Mahabharta.

Kotputli was a part of Torawati which is named after Tanwar Rajpoots having their origin at Patan, now a small town in Sikar district. During the British period, Kotputli was a nizamat under the princely state of Khetri. Raja Sardar Singh of Khetri constructed many buildings in Kotputli including the present Sardar school and Sardar Zanana Hospital. Its location is also very good. It is 70 km away from Alwar, 105 km away from Jaipur and 128 km from Gurgaon. Nearby places to visit includes bhangarh, Siliserh, Sariska, SARUN MATA, etc. Its used to be a fast-developing city but from last 5–7 years development is steady,. It has the largest cement factory of Asia in terms of production.

History

The area of Kotputli was granted by Maharaja Suraj Singh of Shekhawati to his younger brother, Kunwar Bairi Sal in year 1646 AD.

Population Description

As of census 2011 total population of kotputli is 4,13,256. Among which 217,764 are males and 1,95,492 are females. Most of the population of kotputli lives in rural area with a population of 3,64,054 and remaining 49,202 lives in urban area.

1. Shree Sarund Mata Temple: Shree Sarund Mata Temple, near Kotputli is a very old and famous temple. Rao Bhopalji founded the Sarun Mata Temple in 1276, the temple of Kuldevi of Tanwar Rajputs. On every festival hundreds of thousands of pilgrims visit the temple, many people make donation for the development of the area near the temple which help the pilgrims to stay in newly built dharamshalas. 2. Hiroda HanumanJi Temple:

Address- Jaipur to Hiroda HanumanJi temple=110 km, NH no. 8 Kotputli to 8 km Neeam Ka Thana Road on Dabla Road. Direction: From Jaipur: Take left at over-bridge towards Dabla Road --> after 5 km from Cholaee stand take left --> after 1.2 km you will find big Hanumanji Temple at your right side.

3.Devnarayan Mandir :-on Nh.8 temple of gurjar folk god shri Devnarayan.

4. Thakur ji (Radha Krishan) Temple ,Address - Jaipur to Thakur ji temple=119 km, NH no. 8 Kotputli to 14 km Neeam Ka Thana Road on Dabla Road at Kalyanpura Kalan Village.

5. Bhairu Baba Temple -This Temple of Shri Chapawala Bhairu ji. hosts a very big fair each 30 January.

6. Jeen Mata Temple -Jeen Mata Temple is a very old temple in the city and located on main bus stand. Address - Jaipur to Bahairu Baba temple=121 km, NH no. 8 Kotputli to 16 km Neeam Ka Thana Road on Dabla Road at Kalyanpura Kalan Village.

Demographics

As of the 2011 Indian census,[1] Kotputli had a population of 2,50,157. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Kotputli has an average literacy rate of 67%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 70%, and female literacy is 56%. In Kotputli, 16% of the population is under 16 years of age.Kotputli is fast increasing in infrastructure development. It is placed between Delhi and Jaipur center. Jaipur is already a fast city, its benefit goes to Kotputli.
