Kothapalli Geetha is an Indian Politician and a member of parliament from Araku (Lok Sabha constituency), Andhra Pradesh. She won the Indian general election, 2014 from Araku Constituency.[1] Araku Constituency is the second largest constituency (in area) in India.

Kothapalli Geetha is an Indian politician and a Member of parliament from Araku (Lok Sabha constituency), Andhra Pradesh.[1] She is a first time politician and first generation politician with no political backing. Since Geetha's taking office as MP from Araku, she has focused her efforts in improving the conditions of tribal areas that she represents. She has been also working on inviting foreign direct investments into the area. She has been working relentlessly in procuring funds from the Center for reforming and modernising transport to the constituency area, infrastructure and improving health and sanitation. She has gained multiple formal qualifications that add to her quest in social service and political career.

Family and Early Life

Kothapalli Geetha was born in a well-educated family in the year 1971. She was the only girl child to her parents. Her father Late. Mr. Kothapalli Jacob, hails from Thimmapuram of Addathigala Mandal of East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. He belongs to Valmiki community, a Scheduled Tribe section in Araku area. She was the first graduate from the Tribal belt of East Godavari District.

Education

Geetha completed her Bachelor of Arts in the year 1989, Bachelor of Education in the year 1990, both from Andhra University. She got employed very early at the age of 20. She demonstrated exceptional aptitude in most of the competitive exams. Even though employed, She continued her interest in education, social service and political career by acquiring formal qualifications as Master of Arts in Psychology, in the year 1993, Master of Arts in Public Administration in the year 1995 and Master of Arts in Sociology in the year 1997.

Early career

Geetha started her career as officer in Regional Rural Bank, (Godavari Grameena Bank) as Officer when she was 20 years and joined service in Feb,1991. She served the bank for a period of 2 years as an officer and 4 years as a Manager and gained knowledge in banking and administrative fields. Mrs. Geetha appeared for Group 1 services in the A.P government and was selected as Deputy collector and joined the services of the A.P State government in the year 1999. She joined the government as a Deputy Collector and served in different capacities in as Sub-Collector, Special Deputy Collector( Land protection), Revenue Divisional Officer, Land acquisition officer, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Special officer in Survey and land records etc., and acquired wide knowledge in the administrative, law and state government laws and procedures.

Business

Geetha resigned from the services of the State Government was relieved in March 2010, and started her business career as a Director of various boards in Maheswara Group of Companies which has business in Engineering, Infrastructure, Trading and Property development, which is based at Chennai and has played an active role in the company administration and day-to-day affairs. With excellent academic background, Geetha is very active and participating in all the activities of Administration and Business of the Group Companies.

Social Service

Not limiting her activities just to business, Geetha founded a non-profitable organization called the GEETHAS, (General Environmental Education for Tribal Health Action Society) which operates in the Tribal areas of four districts namely Visakhapatnam, Vijayanagaram, Srikakulam, and East Godavari districts in Andhra Pradesh. The Organization provides educational support to the tribal children, and also concentrates on health and developmental activities, by providing free medicine and conducting health camps in rural areas of the Tribal belt. This organization operates with the financial support of the group companies and not with governmental or private funds.

Kothapalli Geetha is a highly service-focused social worker with a strong commitment to serving the needs of disadvantaged youth and adults, including homeless, emancipated youth and special-needs populations especially in the tribal areas. She is excellent in organizational planning, with documented success overcoming challenges of limited resources and financial constraints to design high-quality, cost-effective and comprehensive service offerings for the needy and underprivileged, having over a decade of experience in working in Andhra Pradesh in various department.
