Kjell Mørk Karlsen

Kjell Mørk Karlsen 2016

Kjell Mørk Karlsen (born Oslo, 31 March 1947) is a Norwegian composer and organist.[1]

Career

Karlsen’s early works are characterized by an ecclesiastical liturgical-musical traditional rooting, while later forks would reveal development of tonality and dissonance, bringing his works closer to contemporary compositional styles. After having studied with Finnish composer Joonas Kokkonen in 1983-84, Karlsen entered the symphonic realm with a number of symphonies and large format oratories. Karlsen’s numerous sonatas and string quartets are also testament of the composer’s predilection for the classic chamber music format. [2]
