Allmusic[2]

Heather Phares of Allmusic says the approach of kids remaking current pop hits "offers as many moments of surreality as it does whimsical fun," citing the lyrics of Sheryl Crow's "Soak Up the Sun" as an example. The closest the collection comes to kid-friendly songs are Avril Lavigne's "Complicated" and Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles". With the current pop scene lacking "songs that work with kids' voices", the original versions just "sound better than these covers".[2]

Getting mixed reviews, Allmusic’s opinion believes the attempt of children remaking current and known pop hits "offers as many moments of surreality as it does whimsical fun," citing the lyrics of Sheryl Crow's "Soak Up the Sun" as an example (AllMusic). But at the same time, they don’t believe the children singers nailed their complete goal, saying “the original versions of these songs aren't especially racy, and all of them sound better than these covers.” (AllMusic)While on the other hand, both Cduniverse and Beth Amos of Barnes & Noble felt positive toward the current album (Kidz Bop Kidz,Kidz Bop, Volume 3. Barnes).Cduniverse said “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it,” (Kidz Bop Kidz). They felt the series’ third release did a good job representing all tastes of music (Kidz Bop Kidz).R&B fans “get shiny, kid-friendly versions of songs by Ashanti ("Happy"), Pink ("Don't Let Me Get Me"), Nelly ("Dilemma"), and Usher ("U Don't Have To Call") (Kidz Bop Kids).Skate-punks also get a tip of the hat via covers of Avril Lavigne ("Complicated") and No Doubt ("Hey Baby") (Kidz Bop Kids). There's even a representation of young divas-in-training with Michelle Branch’s ("All You Wanted")” (Kidz Bop Kids). Beth Amos praised the Kidz Bop kid performers saying, “Kidz Bop's youthful singers have a magnetic appeal to their peers.” (Kidz Bop, Volume 3. Barnes).
