Khalsa Raj Party

The Khalsa Raj Party is a political party in Punjab. It was formed by Dr. Jagjit Singh Chohan (who returned to Punjab after living in exile in the United Kingdom for 21 years). Dr. Chohan says that he returned to achieve the goal of Khalistan (a desired homeland for the Sikhs). The Khalsa Raj Party strives to achieve this goal through nonviolence. They contested polls.[1]

Introduction

The Khalsa Raj Party was started by Dr. Jagjit Singh Chohan. Chohan formed the Khalsa Raj Party in 2002 and was also the president of the party. [2]

The creation of the Khalsa Raj Party

Jagjit Singh Chohan is the president of Khalistan. According to the Sikh Times, "Dr. Jagjit Singh Chauhan, an ideologue of the Khalistan movement who returned to India from UK after 21 years to form the Khalsa Raj Party, declared his intention to work towards the 'formation of Khalistan' at a press meet in Chandigarh. Till recently, Chauhan was lying low but now sees some prospect of the Khalistan movement being revived." [3] Dr. Jagjit Singh Chohan established the Khalsa Raj party with the purpose of achieving self determination for the Sikhs known as Khalistan.
