The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is an autonomous road agency. Its responsibility is for the management, development, rehabilitation, and maintenance of Class A, B and C roads as explained below.[3]

Location

The headquarters of KeNHA are located at Blueshield Towers, Hospital Road, in the neighborhood of Upper Hill, in Nairobi, Kenya's capital and largest city. The coordinates of the agency's headquarters are: 1°17'57.0"S, 36°48'48.0"E (Latitude:-1.299165; Longitude:36.813324).[4]

Overview

The Government of Kenya divides the roads into several classes, including the following:[3]

  1. Class A: "International trunk roads linking centres of international importance and crossing international boundaries or terminating at international ports".
  2. Class B: "National trunk roads linking internationally important centres".
  3. Class C: "Local roads linking provincially important centres to each other or to higher-class roads"

The agency is mandated to develop, construct, maintain, upgrade, manage and rehabilitate Class A, B and C roads in the county. It is KeNHA's responsibility to collect and collate any data necessary for smooth operations and forward planning.[3][5]
