The Kentucky gubernatorial election of 2019 will be conducted to choose a new Governor of Kentucky. Incumbent Republican Governor Matt Bevin is eligible to run for re-election to a second term. Bevin has not announced whether he would run for a second term in office.
No Republican has ever served consecutive terms as Governor of Kentucky. The only Republican to run for re-election, Ernie Fletcher, was defeated by Democrat Steve Beshear in 2007.
