Kelvin Garmon (born October 26, 1976) is a former American football offensive guard in the National Football League. He was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round of the 1999 NFL Draft. He played college football at Baylor. During his NFL career he played for the Dallas Cowboys, San Diego Chargers and Cleveland Browns.

Early years

Garmon played at Haltom High School in Haltom City, Texas. During his career he played offensive and defensive line and earned all-district and all-state honors as a senior. He also practiced basketball and track.

He accepted a scholarship from Baylor University. During his college career, he was a three-year starter and played every position on the offensive line except center. As a senior, he played in only four games due to a fractured right tibia.

Professional career

Dallas Cowboys

Garmon dropped in the 1999 NFL Draft until the Dallas Cowboys selected him in the seventh round. He spent his first season on the Reserve-Non-Football Injury list, recovering from the injury he suffered during his senior year in college. The next year, he was inactive for the first 15 games, while regaining his playing form. In 2001 he started all 16 games at right guard.

It is believed 2002 was the first time a NFL franchise had five African American starters on their offensive line, when the Cowboys lined up rookie center Andre Gurode, tackles Flozell Adams and Solomon Page, guards Larry Allen and Garmon.[1] That season, he started five games before being traded to the San Diego Chargers.

San Diego Chargers

On October 12, 2002 the Cowboys traded Garmon to the San Diego Chargers in exchange for a seventh round draft pick,[2] and went on to start five out of the seven remaining games at left guard. During the 2003 season he started all 16 games for the Chargers.

Cleveland Browns

On March 23, 2004, Garmon signed with the Cleveland Browns as a free agent.[3] In his only season with the Browns he started eight games before suffering a knee injury and being placed on the injured reserve list. He was released before the start of the 2005 season.

Oakland Raiders

On April 20, 2006, he signed as a free agent with the Oakland Raiders but was released before the season started.
