Kate Cayley is a Canadian writer and theatre director. She is the artistic director of Stranger Theatre,[1] and the current playwright-in-residence at Tarragon Theatre.[1]
As a playwright, her plays have included The Yellow Wallpaper Project,[2] The Hanging of Françoise Laurent, Clown of God, And What Alice Found There, The Counterfeit Marquise,[3] After Akhmatova[4] and The Bakelite Masterpiece.[1]
She won the Geoffrey Bilson Award in 2012 for her young adult novel The Hangman in the Mirror,[5] and the Trillium Book Award in 2015 for her short story collection How You Were Born.[6] She was also shortlisted for a ReLit Award in 2014 for her poetry collection How This World Comes to an End, and for the Governor General's Award for English-language fiction at the 2015 Governor General's Awards for How You Were Born.[7]
She lives in Toronto, Ontario with her partner, stage manager and puppeteer Lea Ambros, and their children.[8]
