Karol Mets (born 16 May 1993) is an Estonian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back and a defensive midfielder for Dutch club NAC Breda and the Estonia national team.

Club career

Tulevik

Mets started playing football in his hometown Viljandi with Tulevik's youth team.

Flora

In 2011, Mets joined Flora. He made his debut for Flora on 1 March 2011, in a Estonian Supercup match against Levadia, winning the game 5–3 in a penalty shoot-out. Mets made his debut in the Meistriliiga on 2 April 2011, in a 1–0 away win over Kuressaare. He soon established himself as Flora's first choice centre-back alongside Karl Palatu and won the Meistriliiga title in the 2011 season.

Viking

On 5 December 2014, Mets signed a three-year contract with Norwegian club Viking for an undisclosed fee.[1] He made his debut in the Tippeligaen on 6 April 2015, in a 1–0 away defeat against Mjøndalen.

NAC Breda

On 31 July 2017, Mets signed a three-year contract with Dutch club NAC Breda for an undisclosed fee, rumored to be around €100,000.[2]

International career

Mets started his international youth career in 2010 with the under-19 national side, and represented Estonia in the 2012 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. He played in every match, but failed to help the team advance past the group stage as Estonia lost all three matches against Portugal, Greece and Spain. He made his international debut for the senior national team on 19 November 2013, in a 3–0 friendly away win against Liechtenstein.[3]
