Kantipur Engineering College (KEC) (Nepali: कान्तिपुर इन्जिनियरीङ कलेज), affiliated to Tribhuvan University,[2] Nepal, is an engineering college in Dhapakhel, Lalitpur, Nepal.[3] The college has the basic objective of creating an excellent platform for engineering studies. It offers courses in Bachelor of Engineering which are Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Civil Engineering.

The college organized the 9th International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management & Applications SKIMA 15–17 December 2015 in Kathmandu, Nepal. In 2008, KEC organized the SKIMA conference in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The college is associated with FUSION (Featured eUrope and South asIa mObility Network),[4] cLINK, SMARTLINK projects which are funded under Erasmus Mundus Action 2 (EMA2). These projects focus on fostering international cooperation between European Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and HEIs in emerging Asian countries through the promotion of mobility at all level of studies and training for students, PhD candidates, post-doctoral researchers, academics and administrative staff.

KEC aims to mobilise 160 students, researchers and staff in between Asia to Europe under current SMARTLINK project. The SmartLink cooperation will cover disciplines with a strong focus on research and training in the field of smart technologies for a wide range of application areas to address research and technological challenges.

Clubs

There are three clubs in this college: Computer Club, Civil Club and Electronics Club formed with the motive to help in the all-round development of the students. All these clubs conduct their activities under their respective departments.

Computer Club

The Computer Club of Kantipur Engineering College is student organization founded in 2013 with the intention of providing everything students need to explore their ideas, develop new skills related to the field of computers. We also help in building confidence in students with the help of various programs and programs. This Club consists of computer enthusiasts and technically minded hobbyists as the executive members. The main vision of the club is to expose the students to the latest advancements in computer technology and give individuals an opportunity for sharing and extending ideas, views and knowledge in the field of computers and fast changing technology.

The club provides a strong platform for the engineering students to practically implement their innovative ideas in computer for different applications. The Club offers indispensable guidance, workshops and organizes various events for students to explore their full potential.

Objectives of Computer Club

  1. To provide computer and computerized device knowledge and mentored training.
  2. To provide centralized association management services to organize technical and professional programs in the college.
  3. To nurture the minds of student towards creativity and steer and their talents towards high quality research in different areas of Computer Engineering and Technology.
  4. To make the student able converts theoretical knowledge in practical work.
  5. To let our students to excel in the area of computers and cognitive sciences and produce high quality engineers having self confidence in nation.
  6. To develop fellowship between the students of our college along with the development of mutual understanding.
  7. To provide a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest that includes everything related to computer technology.
  8. To enhance the professional development of our students, and networking among technical gasu professionals.

Civil Club

KEC Civil Club is a joint committee formed by students studying Civil Engineering in KEC. It works under the guidance and supervision of Civil Engineering Department. Head of Department of Civil Engineering Department is the chief of the club and students act as members.

Objectives of Civil Club

The main objective of Civil Club is to improve and widen students’ ideas and knowledge in Civil Engineering discipline beyond his/her academic performance. It aims to teach students how to use the knowledge gained by studying civil engineering for prosperity of society and improvement of quality of people’s life.

Activities done by Civil Club

Since the establishment of Civil Club, its activities have been categorized as follows:

  1. It has published second volume of a technical magazine named ‘PRABIDHI’ on Dec 2014. ‘PRABIDHI’ means technology.
  2. It helps college in organizing TECHNICAL EXHIBITION every year as an organizer along with the support of Electronics Club and Computer Club. The projects that are best in Exhibition are awarded.
  3. It supports students in participating in different exhibitions that are organized by different colleges. Eg. It has been helping students in making their prototype to be shown in Exhibition.
  4. It helps students by notifying them about the venue and time of the exhibition, seminar, conference, etc. so that students can participate in these programs and get benefits from these.
  5. It conducts Quiz Contests to broaden students’ knowledge and ideas in civil engineering field.
  6. It makes all students aware about any inventions, creations or methodologies that are new to civil engineering field by demonstrating those inventions, creations and methodologies and discussion program conducted among students to discuss how those inventions can be beneficial to the society.

Electronics Club

KEC Electronics club is especially targeted for students studying in this college with an interest in Electronics and Communication field. The club’s main aim is not only to provide a strong emphasis in Practical Electronics but also to provide fun in learning and to help people understand the seemingly incomprehensible electronic gadgets in the world today. It also assists students in developing their own devices in an innovative way.

Objectives

  1. To bring the students out of their syllabi bound shells and to expose them in practical field.
  2. To explain the concepts of electronics, circuit design and hardware analysis and help them to gain knowledge.
  3. To provide a platform for the students to complete their innovative ideas.
  4. To provide resources and the technical know-how to realize and shape their projects.
  5. To expose the students to the latest technological advancements in the field of electronics.
  6. To organize the program and make a discussion on latest trends of electronics which indeed improve their communication skills of Electronics.
  7. To organize the exhibition for providing the Electronics Student a platform to show their skills and ideas.
