From industrial perspective, after Chennai, the highest concentration of leather in India is in Kanpur. This is the reason that Kanpur Nagar is known as Leather City, and it is also known as Manchester of northern India.

There are about 400 leather tanneries and 1000 household units. Where is the work of buffalo leather mainly. Here the annual material leather of 1200 crores is prepared. Annual export of leather worth 6500 crores and annual export of Rs.1000 crores is done by domestic units.

The most tanaries here are in Jajmou, which is known as Tannery's stronghold. Here the tanneries of tannery are left in the river Ganga, which makes the water of the Ganges river very messy. In the coming time, the leather industry has proposed to construct a 400 million rupee waterproof plant.

Kanpur is considered to be strong enough from the economic point of view from other districts in its division. That is why it is called the economic capital of Uttar Pradesh, but despite this, the development here does not get anything special. The Grand Truck Road passes through here, which carries the highest traffic. From an educational perspective, there is plenty of inter college here, which is also good. There is also an evolutionary postgraduate college of science, commerce and arts faculty. Apart from IIT also there is no shortage of good government technical schools.

The evidence is that Hallet is a very good hospital here, from here, from the beggar to the charter, to bring the medicine, it is said that the person who is dead in this hospital is made alive. It is currently being operated by the Central Government.
