Kanakapur
Kanakapura is one of the tehsils of Ramanagara district in Karnataka state of India. It is known for its production of silk and granite.[1]
History
The settlement was originally named "Kaankaanhalli".[1] In 1791, during the Anglo-Mysore Wars, the army of Lord Cornwallis passed through Kaankaanhalli.[2]
Location
Kanakapura is situated near the bank of Arkavati River, 57 km (35 mi) from Bangalore, and 80 km (50 mi) from Mysore.[1]
