Kakinada Town railway station is an Indian railway station in Kakinada of East Godavari district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It lies on the Samalkot–Kakinada Port branch line, a branch line of Howrah–Chennai main line. It is administered under Vijayawada railway division of South Central Railway zone. It is well equipped with Computerised reservation facilities, Waiting Halls, refreshment rooms and retireing rooms. It is a home for some of the premium trains like Gowthami SF, Circar Express, Seshadri Express, Cocanada AC Express.[1]

Kakinada town railway station is frequently connected with special trains from Hyderabad, Tirupati and Kollam throughout every year.

Classification

Kakinada Town railway station is an ‘A’–category station. It is recognized as a Model station, Adarsh station and Touch & Feel (Modern Stations) in the Vijayawada railway division.[2][3]

Development

SCR recently installed Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVM)s in this station.And also in the railway budget 2016-18 it was given amount of 200 crores to merge kakinada into chennai-Howrah main line.[4]
