Dr. K T Jaleel (born 30 May 1967) is an Indian politician, social worker and an author from Kerala, India, who is the Minister for Local Administration, Government of Kerala.[1] He elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly from Thavanoor constituency in Malappuram district.[2] He started his political career through Indian Union Muslim League, Later he came out of IUML protesting against the IUML leadership. Afterwards he contested independently with LDF support. He is also author of book “Oru Kodumkattaya Janapaksha Rashtreeyam” and published many articles in periodicals and News papers.
He was elected as an MLA for the first time in 2006, from Kuttipuram constituency as LDF supported Independent candidate, defeating then Muslim league General Secretary, P. K. Kunhalikutty,[3] after his expulsion from IUML, in 2005 because of his rebellious stand against the party leadership.[4] In 2011, he was again elected from Thavanoor constituency, defeating Adv. V.V. Prakash (I.N.C) for a margin of 6854 votes.[5] In 2016 Assembly elections, he was re-elected from Thavanoor, with a majority of 17064, against Ifthiquarudheen.P of Indian National Congress.[6]
Personal life
Jaleel was born the son of Shri K.T. Kunhi Muhammed and Smt. Parayil Nafeesa at Tirur, Malappuram.Spouse: M.P. Fathima Kutty (Valanchery Govt HSS Principal). Children: Asma Beevi (student in the US) , Muhammed Farooq (DU student) and Sumayya Beegum.
Education
He completed his Primary education from GUPS-Painkanur, Valanchery and GUPS-Velimukku. His Secondary education was from GHS-Kuttippuram. He did his Predegree from Islahiya College Chenamangalure and his Graduation and Post graduation from PSMO-College Tirurangadi.He owns an M.Phil-degree from Calicut university a Ph.D from Kerala University Thiruvananthapuram on topic "Roll of Variyam Kunjahammed haji and Ali Musliyar in the Malabar Rebellation of 1921". He is currently Associate Professor in history, in PSMO-College Tirurangadi and settled at valanchery.[7]
