Juliet Lapidos

Juliet Lapidos is an American writer and editor. She is the op-ed and Sunday opinion editor at the Los Angeles Times.

Early life

As a teen, Lapidos lived on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.[1] She is Jewish.[1][2]

Lapidos graduated summa cum laude from Yale University and won a Gates Cambridge Scholarship,[3] next earning a master's degree in English from Cambridge University.[4]

Career

Lapidos was a culture editor at Slate until 2011,[5] writing about topics including friendship between men and women,[6] Woody Allen,[7] and the "Slate pitches" meme,[8] among other topics. After layoffs at Slate,[9] she joined the New York Times as an opinion section staff editor.[10] In 2015, she joined the Los Angeles Times as the editor of the op-ed page and the Sunday opinion section.[11]

Lapidos has written for the Atlantic, the New York Times Book Review, the New Yorker, and The Forward.[12][13]
