Julia Gray, formerly Julia Johnson, is a London-born author, singer-songwriter and a founder-member of Post Trip-Hop band Second Person. Her first solo album, I Am Not The Night, recorded at Livingston Recording Studios and produced by Tristan Ivemy (Frank Turner, The Holloways), was released in May 2011 through the independent label Blue January. Her second solo album, "Robber Bride" was released in June 2014.[1] Her first novel for young adults, "The Otherlife", will be published by Andersen Press in July 2016.[2] In November 2009, The Telegraph reported that Johnson was engaged to film financier Calum Gray.[3]
Trivia
- Julia also wrote her first stage musical at the age of 15, entitled A Young Man With Conjunctivitis, for which she was the musical director.
- At the age of 18, she began playing solo gigs at The Kashmir Klub, prior to forming Second Person with Mark Maclaine in 2002. She currently performs her own solo material in London and elsewhere in the UK.
- In May 2009 Julia was one of the featured artists at London Songwriters Week
- Julia played at the Launch of the 2010 Bird's Eye View Film Festival in January 2010.
- She played a monthly residency at The Troubadour in 2009 and 2010, and performed at Bestival in September 2011 and 2012.
