Josephine Chanler

Josephine Hughes Chanler (7 April 1906 – 23 December 1992) was an American mathematician.

Life

She was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the only child of Louisa Castle and James Chanler.[1]

Career

She completed her PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign.[2][3] Her PhD advisor was Arthur Byron Coble.[4]

She later became a professor of mathematics and taught at various universities in New England.[1]
