José Ramón Leclerc (born December 19, 1993) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Leclerc made the Texas Rangers 2017 Opening Day roster out of Spring Training. [1] He appeared in 10 games before going on the Disabled List May 9, 2017 with a sprained right index finger.[2] Before landing on the Disabled List, Leclerc recorded 18 strikeouts in 11.2 innings pitched. He was eligible to return from the Disabled List on May 18. [3]

Leclerc worked as a starting pitcher for the Frisco Roughriders of the Class AA Texas League in 2015. Leclerc joined the Rangers 40-man roster as a relief pitcher after the 2015 season.[4] Leclerc began the 2016 season with Frisco, and received a midseason promotion to the Round Rock Express of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League. The Rangers promoted him to the major leagues on July 5, 2016.[5]

He earned his first career save April 12 vs. Los Angeles Angels[6], entering the game with one out and a runner on second in the 8th inning with a 6-3 lead before striking out Mike Trout and getting Albert Pujols to fly out. [7]

With 18 strikeouts in 11.2 innings in 2017, Leclerc is averaging 13.9 strikeouts per 9 innings. In 22 appearances in his career, he’s struck out 33 in 26.2 innings for an average of 11.1 K’s per 9 innings. [8]
