Jordan Lynne Pruitt[2] (born May 19, 1991 in Atlanta, Georgia) is an American recording artist. After recording a demo album in 2006, Pruitt was signed to Hollywood Records.

Pruitt has released two albums, the debut No Ordinary Girl (2007) followed by Permission to Fly (2008). "Outside Looking In" is taken from the debut album, which charted on the US Billboard 200. Pruitt is currently residing near Franklin, Tennessee and in Los Angeles, when not on tour, she is preparing to record her third album.

Biography

Beginnings

Pruitt was born and raised in Loganville, Georgia. She went to school at Covenant Christian Academy.[3] She started writing songs at age nine.[4] In 2006, she recorded a demo album that was eventually discovered by producer Keith Thomas. Shortly after, Pruitt was signed to Hollywood Records.[1][4]

Career (2006 - 2012)

In June 2006, Pruitt's debut single, "Outside Looking In" was released to promote the Disney Channel TV film Read It and Weep. Her debut studio album, No Ordinary Girl was released on February 6, 2007 and peaked at number sixty-four on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States.[5] On select dates, Pruitt toured as the opening act of The Cheetah Girls during their 2006 tour. She also took part on all tour dates of the High School Musical: The Concert, in 2006 and 2007. Pruitt was featured on the main theme song for the 2007 Disney film Jump In!, titled "Jump to the Rhythm." [6] In 2009, Pruitt also toured with Demi Lovato.

Pruitt's second studio album, Permission to Fly, was released on August 26, 2008. The album was a commercial failure; both it and its singles failed to appear on any chart most likely due to its limited original release of before finally being given a more expanded release one month.

Pruitt's third studio album was set to be released in 2012 but as of 2015, it remains unreleased. Jordan also recorded the song "Take to the Sky" for the soundtrack of the film Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure. Her cover of "This Christmas" appears in the compilation album All Wrapped Up Vol. 2.

In February 2011, it was confirmed that Jordan was no longer under contract with Hollywood Records, but is signed to Jonas Records.[7] Pruitt premiered her song, "Shy Boy" on March 1, via Facebook and YouTube. It was later confirmed the version of "Shy Boy" released on March 1 was a demo version and it was only released for promotional use, however a real version of the song will be on her upcoming album. In April 2011, another new song was leaked called "What a Feeling". It is expected to be on her new album. On July 5, Jordan posted a preview of a new song, "Something's Gotta Give" on her YouTube account.

On September 2, 2012, Pruitt announced on her official website and at the beginning of a video of her performing "My Love Is Like a Star" by Demi Lovato, that she will be offering 7 unreleased songs, one song a day for a week, accompanied with a music video.

In Oct 12, 2012 Pruitt made a YouTube video titled R.I.P Amanda Todd; she found out that Amanda Todd's last YouTube video was of her singing Jordan Pruitt's song "Outside Looking In". Pruitt went on to say she hopes people will fight to stop bullying and cyber-bullying she also went on to say that she said her thoughts and prayers are with Amanda Todd's family.

The Voice

On August 3, 2012, Pruitt announced on her official Facebook page that she had auditioned for the third season of the American popular singing television competition, The Voice. Her blind audition aired on NBC on September 24, 2012. She sang "The One That Got Away" by Katy Perry. Christina Aguilera was the only one of the four coaches to turn around and Pruitt became part of Team Christina by default. Pruitt's battle competition against Adriana Louise was aired on October 23, 2012, in which the two singers took part in singing "Hot n Cold" by Perry. Aguilera ruled Louise the winner, eliminating Pruitt from the competition. Following Pruitt's elimination from The Voice, she tweeted fans to say that she is taking on a new musical genre. "I am one happy girl.... And excited to tell you, I'm going country.... #newmusic #2013 #omgsh" - @jordansblog. Fans can expect new music in the first quarter 2013.

After The Voice (2013 - Now)

In May 2013 Pruitt announced via Twitter, that her first country EP will be released in 2013, and the first single will be released at the end of June.[8] Pruitt also announced that she will be going on tour the Summer of 2013.[9]

In December 2016 Pruitt released a Christmas single, "Merry Christmas Baby".[10] Pruitt also announced via Twitter that in 2017 she would be releasing a 10-song Pop album.[11]

Personal life

Pruitt is a Christian.[12][13] Pruitt has spoken about her faith saying, "The only thing that centers me on a daily basis is Jesus Christ...".[14]

Pruitt got engaged to fellow The Voice alum Brian Fuente in May 2014.[15] The two were married on May 24, 2015.[16]
