Jon Jashni

Jon Jashni is an American media investor and content producer. Jashni founded Raintree Ventures in 2016.[1] He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences[2] and the Producers Guild of America[3] and is a Trustee Emeritus of the American Film Institute.[4]

Personal Life and Education

Jashni was born in Los Angeles, California. He attended the University of Southern California and graduated in 1984 with a BS in Corporate Finance. He also attended UCLA Anderson School of Management and graduated in 1987 with an MBA in Organizational Behavior.[5]

Career

Jashni worked at Columbia Pictures and 20th Century Fox, joining Hyde Park Entertainment in 2002 to serve as President.[6]

In 1999 Jashni partnered with Kevin Burns to form Synthesis Entertainment, through which they have developed and produced content based upon the Irwin Allen estate properties including the feature films Poseidon (2006) and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea[7] as well as the television pilots The Time Tunnel (Fox, 2002) and Lost in Space (The WB Television Network, 2004). In 2018 Netflix will release a 10-episode series of Lost in Space created from the partnership between Synthesis and Legendary.[8]

From 2006 until he exited the company in 2016, Jashni served as President and Chief Creative Officer of Legendary Entertainment.[9][10] During that time, he worked as a producer and led the development team[11][12] on a number of Legendary film projects[13] including Kong: Skull Island,[14] The Great Wall (2016 film),[15] Warcraft, [16] Crimson Peak,[17] Godzilla (2014 film),[18] 42 (2013 Jackie Robinson biopic),[19] and Pacific Rim.[20] He also played a key role in corporate dealings which included the reported $3.5 billion purchase[21] of Legendary by China's Dalian Wanda Group Co.[22]

Jashni created Raintree Ventures in 2016 as an investment fund for entertainment-related "immersive content and location-based ventures."[23]
