John Schmersal
John Schmersal is an American musician, producer, composer best known for being a founding member of the band Enon, as well as the guitarist for the seminal Dayton, Ohio indie rock group Brainiac prior to forming Enon.[1][2]
Schmersal joined Brainiac in 1994, replacing guitarist Michelle Bodine, on their tour opening for Quicksand and Seaweed. In 1998, Schmersal released his first solo album, under the name John Stuart Mill, on Seethru Broadcasting. During this same time, he released the first Enon 7" as a solo offering before becoming a full band with members of Skeleton Key, Rick Lee and Stephen Calhoon. Schmersal also has a handful of production credits engineering and producing records for groups such as Hole, Thunderbirds Are Now!, and the Mean Reds. In 2007, Schmersal was the composer for the film Tie a Yellow Ribbon. Schmersal sings additional vocals on the song "Patty Lee" from Les Savy Fav's 2007 fourth full-length album Let's Stay Friends. In 2009, he wrote the theme song for the PBS Kids show "Dash's Dance Party". He is currently a touring member of Caribou.[3]
