John Middleton (24 December 1956[1] – 3 July 2016) was an English football goalkeeper who played for Nottingham Forest and Derby County.

Career

Middleton started his career at Nottingham Forest, playing 90 games for the club between 1974 and 1977.[2] After being replaced in goal by Peter Shilton,[3] Middleton was sold to Derby County as part of an exchange deal for Archie Gemmill.[4] He played 73 league games for Derby before being forced to retire due to injury.[5] He died on 3 July 2016.[6]
