John Hutchison (1817 – July 7, 1863) was mayor of Toronto in 1857.

Hutchison was born in 1817 in Port Patrick, Wigtonshire, Scotland, immigrated to Canada in 1828 as boy and settled in Toronto in 1847.[1]

Before politics he was director with Toronto and Sarnia Railroad and of the Metropolitan Gas and Water Company.

Hutchison was an alderman for St. James ward from 1852 to 1853 and from 1856 to 1857. He was elected mayor in 1857.[2] He was also a member of the Orange Order in Canada.

Retired from council, Hutchison moved to Montreal and died July 7, 1863 at Metis, Quebec.
