Jerod E. Tufte

Jerod E. Tufte (born 1975) is a Justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court and was previously a State's Attorney and a District judge.

Early life and education

Tufte was born in Minot, North Dakota. He graduated from Case Western Reserve University in 1997 and the Arizona State University College of Law in 2002.[1]

Career

He was a law clerk to Judge Roger Wollman, United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit from 2002 to 2003, when he went into private practice in Phoenix, Arizona.[1] He served as Kidder County State's Attorney for six years, beginning in 2005. From 2011 he was the Sheridan County State's Attorney.[2] He has been a Judge Advocate General's Corps officer for the North Dakota Army National Guard from 2008 to 2016 and from 2011 to 2014, he was legal counsel to Governor Jack Dalrymple.[1] He served as the District No. 2 judge at the Barnes County Courthouse in Valley City since 2014.[2] He was elected to the Supreme Court in 2016 taking office on January l, 2017.[1]
