Jeanne Patterson Miles (1908–1990) was an American painter and sculptor.

Miles was a native of Baltimore who grew up in Washington, D.C. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from George Washington University, where she was the first woman to enroll in the art school,[1] and studied at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and with Marcel Gromaire.[2] Upon her return to the United States she lived for many years in Greenwich Village, exhibiting with the Betty Parsons Gallery. She received grants from Yaddo and the McDowell Colony; in 1968 she received an award from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters, and in 1970 and 1973 she received Mark Rothko awards. She was an instructor at Oberlin College, Moravian College, and Yale University during her career,[1] and also taught at the New York Institute of Technology.[3] She was also known for her research into the history of the mandala, and served as a docent at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.[2] Besides the Guggenheim, her work may be found in the collections of the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Newark Museum, among others.[1] She was an early member of the circle of Abstract Expressionists in New York, and her work was also informed by tantric influences as well as Islamic and Tibetan art.[4]

Miles died in Los Angeles.[1] A collection of her papers is held at the Archives of American Art of the Smithsonian Institution.[3] Her daughter is the actress Joanna Miles.[1]
