Amerasinghe Mudalige Jayantha Gamini Amerasinghe (born February 2, 1954, Colombo), or Jayantha Amerasinghe, is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who played in 2 Tests in 1984.
International career
Amerasinghe was the first & still the only Sri Lankan to top score for his team in an innings of a test as a number 11 batsman, when he scored useful 34 where Sri Lanka were bowled out for just 215 in their first innings(which was the second innings of that test) v New Zealand in 1984.[1]
Also he was only the second player from any team to top score for his team in the 2nd innings of a test as a number 11 batsman just after Bert Vogler.[2] Amerasinghe was also just the fifth player in test history to top score for his team in an innings of a test as a no 11 batsman.
