Jay Turser

Jay Turser is a stringed instrument manufacturer owned by US Music Corporation,^[1] located in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, United States. In 2009 U.S. Music Corp. was acquired by JAM Industries of Canada. Today U.S. Music, along with KMC Music and Davitt & Hanser, make up JAM’s U.S. Music operations. According to the Jay Turser website, they are currently affiliated with Davitt & Hanser, a division of JAM Industries, LTD.700 West Pete Rose Way #155 • Cincinnati, Ohio 45203.

Jay Turser produces guitars, basses, mandolins and banjos in a variety of models ranging from low-cost, entry-level to mid price points.

Production facilities are located in China and rely primarily on Asian suppliers for parts and electronics but use imported woods, such as mahogany, maple and rosewood, for the body and neck. The products are sold worldwide through authorized retail outlets. The company produces both electric and acoustic guitars in a wide variety of designs, and like many guitar manufacturers their designs are variations of classic American guitars. They also produce a line of acoustic and electric guitars targeted toward entry level musicians, sold in kits that come with accessories and instructional DVDs.

JT line of solid body electric guitars:

JT-50 series: similar to the Gibson SG
JT-200 series: similar to the Gibson Les Paul single cut-away style, mahogany bodied guitars labeled JT-220 and JT-220D models and available in a variety of finishes
JT-300 series: similar to the Fender Stratocaster
JT-LT series: similar to the Fender Telecaster
JT-MG series: similar to the Fender Mustang
J Tones series: retro styled series based on guitars of the 1950s and 1960s
JT-30 series: ¾ scale versions of the JT-300 series targeted toward younger players
Hollowbody electric guitars: JT-133 and JT-Cleopatra semi-hollow jazz double cutaway styles similar to the Gibson ES 335 and Epiphone Casino
Electric bass guitars: traditional double cut-away, hollow body and violin style bass guitars
Acoustic JT-400 series: traditional hollow body acoustic dreadnought guitars in a variety of finishes
Bluegrass series: instruments including mandolins and banjos. Also includes the JT-RES line of resonator guitars.
ATAK series: designs intended for more extreme, intricate music, "heavy riffing and shredding". Thin neck profiles with a choice of five different original body options. Includes JTX-110, JTX-120, JTX-120T, JTX-130, JTX-140, and JTX-150. Different combinations of colors, bodies, and bridge designs.

Awards

In 2004 Jay Turser received Guitar Player Magazine's Reader's Choice Award for Ultimate Value for the JT-200 line^[2] and the December 2011 Editor's Pick for the JT-LT-RW model.^[3]
