Jay Staggs (born September 26, 1984) is a former professional American and Canadian football defensive back. He was signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2007. Staggs attended and played for Dos Pueblos High School from 1999-2002. He played college football for the UNLV Rebels. He was a member of the UNLV Rebels football staff as a graduate assistant coaching Safeties from 2012-2014. After receiving his Masters in Public Administration he was hired by Timm Rosenbach in 2015 as the Defensive Coordinator at Adams State University. He is cousins with former MLB outfielder Ryan Church.

College career

Staggs appeared in 46 career games and started in his final 26 games played as a defensive back.

Professional career

On April 30, 2007, Staggs signed a free agent contract with the Chicago Bears from April 30, 2007 to August 27, 2007 after competing in the Bears 2007 Training Camp. On January 12, 2008, Staggs signed a free agent contract with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League and was released in June. Staggs coached the junior varsity football team for Coronado High School, in Henderson, Nevada. He was re-signed by the Alouettes on June 7, 2009, and released again on June 24, 2010.[1] Currently, he is a member of the Adams State Grizzly Football staff as the Defensive Coordinator. A former member of the UNLV Rebels football staff as a Graduate Assistant.
