Javid Huseynov (Azerbaijani: Cavid Hüseynov, born on 9 March 1988 in Jabrayil, Soviet Union) is an Azerbaijani footballer who currently plays as an offensive midfielder for Gabala.

Career

During the summer of 2012, Huseynov moved to TFF First League side Adana Demirspor, signing a two-year contract.[1]

On 5 July 2014, Huseynov signed a one-year contract with Gabala.[2]

Following Huseynov's release from jail, he re-signed with Gabala on 17 October 2016, until the end of the 2016–17 season.[3]

Personal life

In August 2015, Huseynov was one of six men arrested in relation to the death of Rasim Aliyev, a journalist who had criticised the player on Facebook as “ignorant and unable to behave himself” after Gabala's UEFA Europa League match against Apollon Limassol on 6 August 2015.[4][5] On 31 May 2016, the court found him guilty of being an accessory to the murder after the fact and not reporting a crime and sentenced to four years of imprisonment.[6]
