Jason Oswell (born 7 October 1992) is an English professional footballer who plays for Stockport County, as a striker.

Career

Born in Northwich, Oswell began his career at Crewe Alexandra, turning professional in May 2011.[1] While at Crewe, he spent loan spells at non-league clubs Market Drayton Town and Nantwich Town during the 2010–11 season[2] He was handed a one-year extension to his contract at the club in order to continue gaining experience out on loan and joinedd Welsh club Rhyl on a six-month loan deal during the 2011–12 season. After a strong start during his spell at the club, scoring 6 times in his first 10 appearances, Oswell was named as Cymru Alliance player of the month for October 2011 before finishing his loan spell with a total of 19 goals.[3][4]

He moved to Inverness Caledonian Thistle in June 2012,[5] making his debut on 11 August 2012 in the Scottish Premier League.[6][7] Oswell was released by the club by mutual consent in January 2013.[8] He re-signed for former club Nantwich Town in February 2013,[9][10] before moving to Witton Albion in March 2013.[11] He signed for Australian club APIA Leichhardt Tigers in May 2013, making his debut later that month against the Rockdale City Suns.[12]

Oswell returned to Wales in September 2013 with brief spells at Rhyl and Airbus UK Broughton before joining Newtown in 2014.[13] He finished as the club's top scorer in the 2014–15 and 2016–17 seasons,[14] winning the Welsh Premier League golden boot during the latter with a total of 22 league goals.[15]

He signed for Stockport County in June 2017.[16]

Personal life

Whilst playing semi-professionally, Oswell worked as a physiotherapy assistant within the National Health Service and studied physiotherapy at university.[14] As part of his final placement for university, Oswell travelled to Uganda with a charity group to help children with neurological conditions.[15]
