Janet Woodcock is an American doctor and the current director of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. Since 2015, she has also served as the acting director of the CDER Office of Pharmaceutical Quality. She previously served as the director from 1994 to 2005. Between 2005-2008, She served as the deputy commissioner and chief medical officer of the Food and Drug Administration. Janet received her undergraduate degree from Bucknell University and earned her [M.D.]] from Northwestern University Medical School in 1977. She held teaching positions at Pennsylvania State University and University of California at San Francisco before joining the FDA in 1986. As director, she led the Pharmaceutical Quality for the 21st Century Initiative using a risk based approach to pharmaceutical regulation and the Critical Path Initiative.[1][2][3]
