Jane Chapman is a British academic, professor of communications at the University of Lincoln, and a visiting fellow at Wolfson College, Cambridge and the Centre of South Asian Studies, Cambridge.
Early life
Chapman has a bachelor's degree in history from University College London, and a PhD from the London School of Economics.[1]
Career
Politics
Chapman was elected to Haringey Borough Council in 1974, alongside future Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, and became chairman of the housing committee.[2][3] She stood as the Labour candidate in two general elections, in 1974 in Dorking, and in 1979 in Dover and Deal.[3][4]
Personal life
Chapman married the future Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn in 1974, when she was 24 and he was 25.[2] The marriage ended in 1979.[2][5]
Chapman has two adult sons, and is married to a retired film editor and producer.[5]
