James Winchester Montgomery (born May 29, 1921) was the ninth bishop of Chicago in The Episcopal Church.[1] He was consecrated on September 29, 1962. He served as bishop from 1962 to his retirement on October 1, 1987.[2]

During the period of the affiliation of Shimer College with the Episcopal Church, Montgomery served as a trustee of the college.[3]

His grandfather, James Rideout Winchester, was Bishop of Arkansas.[4]
