Jakob Ingebrigtsen (born 19 September 2000) is a Norwegian middle-distance runner who specializes in the 1500 metres.

Career

He won the gold medal in the juniors' event at the 2016 European Cross Country Championships in Chia, Italy. [1]

On 27 May 2017 he became the youngest athlete to run the mile distance in less than 4 minutes, when he finished in 11th place in a Diamond League race at Hayward Field in Eugene, USA. [2]

On 15 June he ran almost two seconds faster, when he finished first in a mile race at Bislett Games in Oslo, Norway with the time 3:56.29. [3]

On 08 July 2017 he beat the junior european record on 3000m steeplechase at the Guldensporenmeeting in Kortrijk, Belgium with the time 8:26.81. This was his first time competing in the 3000m steeplechase event.

His older brothers Henrik Ingebrigtsen and Filip Ingebrigtsen are also middle distance runners. They are trained by their father Gjert Ingebrigtsen.[4]
