Jake Sinclair (born March 7, 1985) is an American record producer, audio engineer, mixing engineer, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter.[1] His production, engineering, songwriting, and mixing credits include Weezer, Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, 5 Seconds of Summer, Pink, New Politics, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Gin Wigmore, and Train.[2][3] Sinclair co-wrote and produced Panic! at the Disco's Death of a Bachelor album (which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200)[4][5] and produced Weezer's 2016 Weezer (White Album).[6] Both were nominated for Best Rock Album at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.[7] He co-wrote and produced "Uma Thurman" by Fall Out Boy,[8] which debuted at number one on the U.S. iTunes Chart,[9] reached number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was certified 2X Platinum by the RIAA in December 2015.[10] Sinclair received a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year for his work as engineer and bassist on Taylor Swift's "Everything Has Changed"[11] alongside producer Butch Walker.[12] He co-wrote and produced the debut single, "She Looks So Perfect" by 5 Seconds of Summer[13] that peaked at number one in over five countries and won Song of the Year at the 2014 ARIA Awards.[14] Sinclair is the former bassist of the indie/pop rock band The Films[15] and the lead singer and producer of the indie pop duo Alohaha.[16][17]
Career
Sinclair started playing music at 7 years old in his hometown, Boise, Idaho, and formed his first band at age 11. After moving to New York, his high school band, The Films, got signed to a major label. Acclaimed producer Butch Walker produced the band's second album, and after The Films split up, Walker suggested Jake move to LA. Sinclair took his advice, ending up in the studio with such multi-platinum artists as Weezer, Taylor Swift and Train.[18]
