Izmir Smajlaj (born 29 March 1993) is an Albania athlete specialising in the long jump.[1] He won the gold medal at the 2017 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade, the first gold medal for his country at a major athletics competition, setting a new national record of 8.08 metres.
His personal bests in the event are 8.03 metres outdoors (+0.6 m/s, Elbasan 2016) and 8.08 metres indoors (Belgrade 2017). In addition, he has a personal best of 16.30 metres in the triple jump. All three marks are current national records.
