Voot, launched in March 2016, from the digital arm of Viacom 18, Network 18 Media. It is Viacom18's advertising-led video-on-demand platform[1] that is available as an app for Apple [2] and Android[3] users, and a website for desktop consumption.
Voot is available only in India, and hosts over 28,000 hours of video content[3] that includes shows from channels like MTV, Nickelodeon and Colors.[1]
Voot offers features - such as a user-friendly search option, a social media engagement feature to recommend content to other people via customized 'Shouts',[3] a 'shake' feature,[4] and a security pin for parents with young children to ensure that they don't watch anything but toons and kids content[4] - all of which will be integral to enhancing the user experience.

Reality shows include Bigg Boss, which has featured celebrities like Salman Khan, and contestants like VJ Bani, Gaurav Chopra, Rahul Dev and interesting commoners like Swami Om, Priyanka Jagga, Manveer Gujjar, and Manoj Punjabi, and other many seasons of other shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Roadies, Splitsvilla, The Stage, India’s Got Talent, Khatron Ke Khiladi, Love School, India's Next Top Model, Coke Studio, Warrior High, and MTV Unplugged.

Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut, Salman Khan, and many more stars can be watched in blockbuster movies.[3]

Along with its launch, Voot released 'Voot Originals', its segment with original content made only for digital audiences.
Chinese Bhasad
Directed by Saurabh Tiwari (writer of shows like Rangrasiya and Madhubala), Chinese Bhasad was a seven-episode show set in Lucknow. The show's title track was composed by Amit Trivedi.[5]
After falling in love in Singapore, Raghu Dixit and his Chinese fiancee Ming Seah arrive in Lucknow with dreams of finalizing their wedding. Unfortunately for the pair, Raghu's elderly grandfather, Col. Badrinarayan Bharadwaj, is an ex-Army man who fought valiantly in the 1962 Indo-China war. His resultant hatred for all things Chinese deeply affects him and his family. What ensues is chaos and mayhem - or 'bhasad'.[6]
Soadies
Soadies, starring India's rap sensation Baba Sehgal as Ballu Soadie and Anju Mahendru as Daadi, is about their quest to find a Roadie in their family.[7] The show had six episodes, and featured known celebrities like Raghu Ram and Rajiv.[8]
Sinskaari
This was a web-chat show hosted by Alok Nath, in which he would discuss 'everything from pre-marital sex to role-play in the bedroom'.[9]
Badman
Badman is about Bollywood's legendary 'bad man', Gulshan Grover. In this mockumentary, he decides to relaunch himself in the film industry as a 'hero'. Chunky Pandey acts as his arch-nemesis. The four-part web series is directed by Soumik Sen of Gulaab Gang fame, who wrote it with Anuvab Pal.[7]
The series was also later released as a film on the platform.[10]
Shaadi Boys
Written by writer duo Siddharth-Garima, of Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani fame, Shaadi Boys is a satirical web-series about the extravagance of Indian weddings.[11]
The show revolves around three boys - Neil, a writer, Nitin, a photographer, and Mukesh, a choreographer - and their hilarious journey during their first break in the shaadi business. They decide to work together to organize weddings and simultaneously show off their talents.[12]
It's Not That Simple
Starring Swara Bhaskar, It's Not That Simple is a six-part web series defined as a 'relationship drama that explores the complexities of urban marriages.' [13]
Written by Charudatt Acharya and directed by Danish Aslam, It's Not That Simple is the story of Meera (Swara Bhaskar), who is trapped in an unhappy marriage with Jayesh (Karanveer Mehra). She meets her school friends Sameer (Akshay Oberoi) and Rajiv (Vivan Bhatena) at a reunion and 'embarks on a journey of self-discovery'.[14]
Voot Kids
Voot Kids houses hours of entertainment for kids, such as Motu Patlu, Chhota Bheem, Pokémon, Kung Fu Panda, Dora, and SpongeBob, all at one convenient destination.[15]
Voot Kids Pin
Parents can set up a pin to make sure their kids only see what they want them to. The feature also allows viewers to seamlessly toggle between Voot and Voot Kids.[16] Over 300,000 parents are pin-signed onto Voot.[17]
Shake feature
Voot Kids allows a viewer to instantly swap to episodes of other popular characters by simply shaking the phone.[18]
