History

Islamic Azad University Khorasgan(Isfahan) Branch located in the eastern zone of Isfahan, the cultural, and civilizational capital of Iran, was established in 1988. At this time, the university serving more than 13000 students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, 307 full and part-time faculty members continues its educational and research activities in 112 fields.

Sustainability

Energy conservation program

The research group established from April 2011. The first project of this group is wind power generator project in the agricultural farm of university. More, the group has program for biogas project in cattle farm of university.

Recycle program

For application of self-service organic waste as fertilizer compost, a research project is doing from 2010 until now. After completing the project, vermin-compost will be applied for university farm as organic fertilizer. The capacity of project is two tons vermin-compost per month.

Office of Parking & Transportation Services

The Office of Parking & Transportation Services performs a variety of functions for the campus, including maintenance of parking lots, shuttle bus services and parking assignments for employees and students.

Beside of entrance gates, two large car parks have been considered for students and visitors cars. Professors, staff and Ph.D. students must display a valid parking permit for parking inside of campus. Parking permits are available from Parking & Transportation Services.

Inside transportation are doing by minibus and taxi service from 8 am until 5 pm. In addition, Shuttle buses are active for transporting staffs and students from city center(centre) to university and vice versa.

Wastewater reuse Project

For fresh water saving, a research project was done entitle" Reuse of wastewater for irrigation of landscape Khorasgan (Isfahan) Branch, Islamic Azad University" by Dr Payam Najafi from 2005 until 2009. After this research project, a large scale of project was designed for reuse of the wastewater of public buildings of university for irrigation of pine, cypress and olive trees in area of main campus of university. The components of project are included Sewage Collection Network, initial wastewater treatment, central control unit of irrigation and subsurface drip irrigation.

Greenhouses drain water reuse

For the purpose of increasing greenhouse production, the drain water of flowers greenhouse were used for irrigation of cucumber and tomato greenhouses.

Khorasgan Town

The Town Khorasgan

Khorasgan Town lies east of Isfahan on either side of Jey Highway connecting the city of Isfahan to southern and eastern provinces. It is located in Jey historical area, the town Salman Farsi, the fertile Zayandehrood Plain. Khorasgan stands at 15 degrees and 44 minutes east longitude of Greenwich meridian and 14 minutes of the north latitude of the Equator. It is 1548 meters above sea-level with an approximate 2.5% gradient to the north-east and a mean annual rainfall of 110 mm. The monograph on the geography of Khorasgan cites the area of this town and of the suburbs, residential and agricultural, as 47 km2. Viewed within the national subdivisions, Khorasgan is an affiliate of the Isfahan Province and the nucleus for the central division of this province with a population of over 70,000. Up until a few decades ago Khorasgan was outside Isfahan, but now linked to Isfahan, it has expanded several kilometers beyond Khorasgan, transforming into an area within Isfahan. The distance of Khorasgan Central Square to Ahmadabad Square is 4.5 km.

Background

The book "Zikr Akhbar Isfahan" by Abu Naim Isfahani (deceased 430 A.H.) is the oldest work of reference citing two chroniclers nickname "Khorasgani" which makes reference to Khorasgan. Samani (deceased 562 A.H. = 1142 A.D.) too has referred to the nickname "Khorasgani" and to "Abu Jafar Ahmad bin Almofazzal Almo'addab Alkhorasgani Alisfahani" a chronicler of 2 A.H.(582 A.D.) in his work "Alkitab Alansab". Yaqut Humavi quoting Sam'ani makes the same comment in Mu'jam Albuldan.
